"AND YOUR POINT IS"

On November 21 and 28 we will be offering a quickie class on using the fusible web to make the “And Your Point Is” quilt hanging in the shop. We’ve had lots of questions about it, many “ooohhs and ahhhhhs” as well, so we thought it was high time we introduced you to the concept. It is a fast, fun, nearly-no-brainer activity. Cost will be $15, plus you will need to purchase the pattern and fusibles. We will meet at 1-3 pm and a second class time may be scheduled at 6:30-9:30 pm. Call the shop to register for your preferred time slot. After looking at the pattern, we could possibly adapt this for using up your stash for a scrappy quilt. However, it is a very stunning quilt if using well-coordinated fabrics.

Facts & Fabrications: Unraveling the History of Quilts & Slavery”

This is a fun but challenging quilt class for those who like the Civil War Reproduction prints or the history of the era. We will explore and piece (and appliqué) quilt blocks designed by Barbara Brackman depicting various events and ideologies of 150 years ago. We will be making a total of 20 blocks which you can sew into a quilt top, table runners, pillows, etc. We will be ordering the book (required) by November 8. Please let me know if you are interested in this program. It will last for 12 sessions, every other week. We will begin on Thursday, November 17 at 6:30 pm. For a full schedule, fabric requirements, and more, please stop by or call to register for the class using your credit card. Class fee will be $90 for 12 sessions.

COMING IN JANUARY 2012

Plans for January are still in the works. But, we will be having lots of fun with new classes, beginning, step-by-step skill boosters, as well as some fun new and different items for those with plenty of experience under your belt.

And speaking of step-by-step skill boosters, we will have an easy class we will title “Cabin in the Woods” that will be made using a kit and will feature pieced squares and some appliqué. Whether you choose to machine or hand appliqué will be your business. Teaching you how to do both….well, that is our business! Watch for more information next month on this stylish quilt.  (see photo below)

After the first of the year, we will be changing it to Table Ware Club and we’ll be making quick, fun, and gorgeous table runners, placemats, hot pads, etc.   Just bring your fabrics, sewing machine/equipment.

Each month the group will make a new pillowcase. We will begin with the easy, French-seamed, on Feb. 2. Each month we will add a trim, some piecing, appliqué, piping, etc. At the end of the year club members will make a pillow sham to coordinate with a quilt they have made/are making!

Monthly Fee: $10

Patterns are included.  This is an open-enrollment — you can join any month, but please let us know so that we will be prepared with enough patterns/supplies.
