Free Block Day
++++++++++++++++++++++++

Begin your journey in FREE BLOCK DAY with a startup fee of $10

Free Block Rules

The third Saturday of each month is our “Free Block” day. Please choose one color-way (either “Original” or  Thimbleberries”).  There can be no changing colors after your first month. A $10 fee will begin your journey and each successive month will be free as long as you bring in your completed block. You may come in on the 3rd Saturday of the month (or the Friday or Monday before and after that date) to show your finished block and to pick up the free one for the new month. If you are unable to complete the block, or if you neglect to bring in your completed block on the appointed days, you may purchase the new month’s edition for a fee of $5. If weather, illness or some other event keeps you away on the appointed days, please call ahead of time or on that Saturday  (phone number is at top of this web page) to let me know you will be late bringing in your finished block, but it must be brought in before closing on the following (4th) Saturday. If you do not bring in your completed block, if you do not call ahead that you are unable to come in, or if you do not come in on one of the days set aside for this project, as noted above, you will be charged $5 for the next block in the series.

Soup and Sew

We will be starting a warm, tasty new tradition this winter that we’re calling: “Soup and Sew”. Every Thursday (except the 3rd Thursday which is Quilts of Valor) we will have homemade soup, thanks to super-cook Lea, and open sewing. There will be no fee, we just ask that you bring something that would go well with soup! Bring projects to work on, your sewing machine and other necessary gear, and plan to sew and visit from 10 am to 4 pm. This fun program begins Thursday, November 10, will skip Nov 17 (Quilts of Valor) and Nov 24 (Thanksgiving) and resumes December 1, and throughout the entire months of December and January without interruption (except, as stated, for QOV).

“You Show Me Your Stash and I’ll Show You Mine”

December activities will start out with a special Saturday event on December 3. This new event, which we’re calling “You Show Me Your Stash and I’ll Show You Mine”, will become a monthly gathering the first Saturday of each month (unless otherwise notified!). To participate, please bring the following from your fabric stash: 1 fabric you would choose as your border; and other pieces of fabric measuring ¼ yard cut or larger in any colors and prints to share with all other participants. I will be contributing my stash to this as well. The quilts made on these stash days will, I hope, go to a group that is near and dear to my (and husband Jim’s) heart – the kids at the Fremont County Group Homes. So, if you are willing to use up stash, and if you desire to donate your finished quilt top, it will help warm the body and heart of a troubled Fremont County teenaged boy or girl. Donation is not necessary to participate, it’s only a suggestion. The fee is $5 a month and is for the pattern used. Bring a lunch and let’s whittle away at our stash!

  Block Swappers - Batik Stretched Stars

 -- began swapping on May 7

Pick up your guideline sheets and background fabrics.

Now is the time to join this very popular group! We require a minimum of 12 participants.

Fee: $5 registration

Stop by the shop and talk to Lea for more information, or speak with Cynthia Griewahn. Plan to join all the fun this group is enjoying!

Block Swappers will have their Batik Stretched Stars party along with our annual Christmas Cookie Exchange on Saturday December 10 at 2 pm. If you have your stretched stars blocks sewn into a quilt top, bring it for Show-and-Tell. Bring 2 dozen cookies to share/swap with others along with a container to take your exchanged cookies home. Party begins at 2 pm and . is open to ALL, whether or not you participated in the block swappers group.

A new Block Swappers design will debut and registrations will be accepted at the party. This one is  “Batik Dutch Windmills” and we think you’ll enjoy another way to use up old fabrics cluttering your shelves, hiding in totes, and stuffed under mattresses. Call the shop and ask Lea more about her program.
