Important Tips for Quilt Preparation for Quilting

If you can follow these guidelines when preparing your quilt it will help us complete your quilt to the best of our ability.

♦ Please have your quilt top well-pressed, with seams and seam intersections as flat as possible.

♦ Backing fabric should be at least 3” larger on each side than the quilt top.

♦ The backing fabric needs to be as square as possible.

♦ If your quilt back has a seam or more, please remove the selvages from the seam of your backing whenever possible. It makes the seam shrink differently when it is left on, and it creates more bulk in that area of your quilt.

♦ Please allow at least 1 month lead time before you need to have your quilt completed. During especially busy times (i.e. graduation, pre-fair, and pre-Christmas), please allow 2 months for us to complete your quilt.

♦ Price and completion date estimates quoted for your quilt are just that: ESTIMATES. We will do our best to complete all projects on time. But, please understand that “life” happens for us as well.

Quilting Price List

Edge-to-Edge (pantograph-style) Meandering	$.0175/sq. inch
Edge-to Edge / Meandering within borders and separate border stitching of one border (or several borders treated as one)	$.02/sq. inch
Specialty quilting (i.e. designs set into blocks, sashing quilting) with one border	$.0225/sq. inch
Limited freehand quilting, specialty quilting (i.e. designs set into blocks, sashing quilting) with one border	$.0275/sq. inch and up
King-size quilt with extensive specialty quilting and extra borders	Up to $.05/ sq. inch
Additional Borders	$25 each
Small Item Minimum Charge If your quilt is a crib quilt or smaller (2250 square inches or smaller), we will charge you this fee plus the thread, batting, and backing, as necessary.	$40
Pressing of backing (lining) and/or top And/or Snipping threads, re-stitching torn or pulled seams	$15/hour

NOTE: To figure the square inches of your quilt top, measure the length and width of the top and multiply those numbers together.

Our Quilting Philosophy

Quilting from Sheep Camp is committed to providing quality longarm machine quilting to our customers; we encourage their creativity through the entire quilt, even in the quilting we provide. Your quilt will echo “you” and you will be in control of your quilt’s design, even in the quilting. We can do this by having you choose the quilting designs and threads you want in your quilt. Our quilters will advise you on the size, style limitations, thread-intensive properties, and practicalities of each design. They will assist you in making the quilting choices for your quilt so that it will be the “icing on the cake”!

We feel that the quilting should never over-power the overall pattern and design of your fine piecework and/or appliqué. We also feel that quilting should enhance, support and, at times, blend into the background of the overall quilt’s design.
